Hampton, VA .. Hampton Coliseum February 16-17, 2007 Shows: Friday 7pm Saturday 2 & 8pm
For the Stone Crusher team this weekend was special as Gary Wiggins and Steve Sims returned to Hampton, Virginia's Hampton Coliseum. It was the teams first time back since November of last year where Sims dominated the Saturday event racking up a wins in both the wheelie along with a final round appearance. Wiggins last time in the Hampton Coliseum was a memorable one in November of 2005 when Wiggins lost a wheel and rolled on just his second jump in freestyle. The pressure was on to perform in front of the hometown crowd against the likes of Maximum Destruction, Hot Wheels, Wild Hair and Screamin Demon.
The weekends events kicked off on Friday night with a wheelie contest where both Sims and Wiggins had great attempts but were narrowly beaten by Neil Elliot in Maximum Destruction. In racing both Sims and Wiggins would be defeated in the first round but Wiggins would return as the fast loser in the semi-finals only to go on and win in the finals against Chuck Warner in Hot Wheels. Saturday afternoon started off with a bang when Sims put Pure Adrenalin into orbit with an awesome tailgate slapping wheelie to win the wheelie competition. The racing action was close but both Sims and Wiggins were knocked out again in the semi-finals.Freestyle saw great runs turned in by both Sims and Wiggins scoring high in the freestyle competition. Sims run was full of action with several great sky wheelies and a few quick slap wheelies on the tight arena floor of the Hampton Coliseum scoring a 23. Wiggins would come out second to last in freestyle and tear the house down with a great high speed run capped by a huge nose up launch over the cars scoring a 26. Shortly after the afternoon show it was time to do it all over again for the sold out Hampton Coliseum crowd. Sims would once again take the wheelie contest with another huge tailgate smashing leap. The racing finals would come down to Wiggins and Stone Crusher facing off against Neil Elliot and Maximum Destruction with Elliott narrowly defeating Wiggins for the win but Maximum Destruction would lose a motor in the process. In freestyle Sims put down a great run in Pure Adrenalin with several great sky wheelies and huge leaps over the van stack but couldn't knock off Screamin Demon or Wild Hair for the top spot. Stone Crusher would close out the weekend with another wild but short freestyle from Gary Wiggins. The truck was hampered by axle problems causing the rear wheels not to re-align but that wouldn't stop Wiggins. Despite a great run he would once again come up just short in freestyle. In all it was a great weekend for the Stone Crusher team ending with a racing win for Wiggins in Stone Crusher and two wheelie contest wins for Sims in Pure Adrenalin.
